Day 7. Levis to Lapocatiere.112km

We left Levis in cool (5C), over cast and wind in our faces again; that's 6 of 7 days with a headwind. But no rain today. The weather gods must have planned this all out. The rail trail opens on Monday and we will be in Riviere du Loup tomorrow. Without the headwinds, we would have had to wait a day until the trail to Edmunston opens.🤣🥰😭

Not a great day for making vitamin D until later in the afternoon; by then the sun was low in the horizon and not able to made vitamin D. This was probably our longest day in the saddle, 11h including necessary stops.

I am quite upset about Patrick Provost being fired by Laval University just for expressing an opinion based on his biochemistry training. Even if he is incorrect, he should be encouraged and allowed to express a different opinion. His firing is a dark day for academic discourse and freedom. All academics, especially those who don't share his opinions, should raise hell because this is thin edge of academic censorship. He should be lauded for speaking out for our kids. If academia doesn't speak out now, we will all silenced.

For all academics reading this, get off your asses speak out. Raise hell with all the administration starting with your department head and keep climbing. Don't let them off with a cheap platitude. Make them commit to something that might help academic freedom. Patrick is the canary in the coal mine. You could be next.
