We had heard a lot of good things about Hanmer Springs so this was next stop. After a quick bite of lunch at a picnic table, we headed for the hot pools. There was an extensive array of pools that range in temperature from 33 to 38 degrees, plus a regular swimming pool at 28. This was the only disappointment in New Zealand because it lacked ambience; there were a rocks surrounding some of the pools, while others were completely manmade. Neither of us thought this approached Banff or Liard.
We continued on to Christchurch where we spent a bit on time in the city centre before returning to the Jailhouse. Starbucks was on Cathedral Square as was St Andrews Cathedral.
