May 12. Aldea del Cano to Caceres to Grimaldo

Our stay at the albergue was interesting. The facility was clean and modern. The interesting thing was the key system. It had only one key to the building and guests were told that. But an Italian fellow didn't get it. He locked everyone out for starters and then locked us inside for good measure. It was a deadbolt lock. Inconvenient to start and potentially lethal had there been a fire.

Our walk today was really pleasant, 7 C to start warming up to 17 later. We stopped at Valdesolor for coffee before noon and were in Caceres in good time.

Luck seemed to be our side as we found a pharmacy that was open where I got a pair of cheaters to replace my broken glasses. Then we went to the bus station to hop over a 33 km section. It was confusing to say the least. Eventually we learned that we had to wait until 8 PM. And getting place to stay took a lot of time and phone calls. But it seems that we will be okay.
